Strategy and design award winners at #SCEA20

OrderWise wins a renowned award at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards for supporting frontline services during Covid-19.

You might have seen snippets about the #OWLondon project on our social media channels. Now, we’re proud to share that OrderWise and London Ambulance Service are the winners of The Strategy & Design Award in the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2020. This is thanks to the tremendous work carried out by both teams during this project.

Our entry demonstrated OrderWise’s determination to ensure the ambulance crew at LAS could easily access stock for their ambulances from replenishment hubs around London. Having a fully functional replenishment cycle was critical for LAS to continue their life-saving work during Covid-19.

Starting the operation with an empty warehouse and two keys, the OrderWise team got a system up and running within six hours of their arrival in London. They worked with LAS to create five fully functional warehouses and 48 replenishment hubs, as well as complete on-site training for 62 members of the team. After working 14-hour days, 7-days a week, the team delivered the millionth box of PPE in the 12 weeks since the outbreak of Covid-19.

Emily Grist, Performance Improvement Manager – Fleet and Logistics at LAS said:

“We were able to transform a warehouse in Deptford, in which we have set up as a distribution hub for PPE. We worked in partnership with OrderWise, a company which specialises in stock control and order processing software. This helped us to identify gaps, gain knowledge and develop skills for our logistics team to sustain this process long-term.

“It has allowed for us to have a fully integrated software system which helps increase efficiency, productivity and accuracy amongst our PPE operations. It is intelligence led, which means it forecasts what we need based on factors such as number of calls we receive and number of vehicles going through each ambulance station. I would like to thank all of the team for helping us achieve this.”
