To choose the right integration platform for your business, you first need to understand what it can do for you and, more importantly, what you need it to do. 

Introducing new technology as a knee-jerk reaction to a problem might seem like a good idea at the time but it can actually create greater challenges along the way or worse, it can mask the real challenges hidden underneath.  

This is why it’s so important to choose the right platform for you and the first step you should take isn’t actually to select a platform at all; instead, you should try to understand the operational challenges an integration might solve and set target outcomes to measure the success.  

Getting to the root cause of any challenge can be daunting but it’s not impossible; we’ve mapped out some simple steps to help you build a response strategy and get ready for your future integration; 

Step One – Root Cause Analysis 

  • Here you look back over a period of time, using your Orderwise data to identify key changes. For example, looking at whether your sales were up or down in Q1 this year versus last.

Step Two – Challenge Definition 

  • This is where you begin to build a picture of what your operational challenge is; do you have a leakage problem? Is there a supply chain issue? 

Step Three – Solution Mobilisation 

  • Now you understand the challenge, you can begin to evaluate platforms that can provide a resolution. Begin first with your existing tech stack; is there a capability within your ERP that can help that might come with a lower investment in both time and spend? 

If not, seek out platforms that specifically resolve the challenges you have. Consult with your ERP provider throughout to make sure you can connect these crucial systems together.
